Morris Minor is widely regarded as the car which got Britain back on the road after the Second World War. Designed under the supervision of the legendary Alec Issigonis, over 1.6 million units rolled off production lines between 1948 and 1971. Over its impressive 23-year production run, three series of the model were offered with a wide variety of variants and body styles. The car in question being of the latter 1000 series.
This Morris Minor was first registered on the 5th of March 1970 making it a very late example of the production run. Over the years the car has had 7 keepers and covered just over 93k miles.
The current keeper enjoyed it as a daily and recently spent around £10k on a full bodywork restoration, as well as keeping on top of its mechanical condition.

This handsome two door saloon is presented in a beautiful well-suited Trafalgar blue colour. Having enjoyed the Morris as their daily, the current keeper decided to bring it back to its former glory and approached specialists at Oyster Cars in Whitstable to perform a full body restoration.
As apparent from the photos, all the exterior body panels on the vehicle look as good as new (if not better). The lacquer and polish have been done to a very high standard, making the car stand out whenever it is driven. Even under a very thorough inspection, no signs of bubbling or corrosion on any body panels have been encountered.
The original 14” steel wheels appear in a great condition having also been repainted. All chrome hubcaps appear to be in good condition only showing minor blemishes and signs of wear.
Finishing off the lovely appearance of the freshly-painted bodywork, the exterior trim components are presented in a good overall condition with only some of them suffering minor pitting and corrosion, which leads us to believe they have been kept mostly original and unrestored.
To conclude, the vehicle presents itself as a great example of the breed, and will undoubtably reward its new owner with lots of joyous thumbs-up moments on any adventure.

Mechanics

The new keeper will be delighted to know that this Morris starts up and runs well, since it has been well maintained and serviced by its current keeper.
Some major repair items to note over the last few years include new alternator, battery and refurbished ignition system in 2019, new oil sump and gasket in 2019. The wiring of the turn signals has been sorted and a new break light switch fitted as well as the horn and wiper arm have been fixed.
More recently, in 2022 the Morris had its fuel system refurbished with a new fuel pump and filter fitted, carb stripped and cleaned and all fuel lines flushed. The final timing and tune up procedures have also been undertaken to make sure it runs beautifully.
Interior

The interior of this Morris Minor appears to be in a good original condition. As we are entering the cabin of this little Morris, we are presented with a bright and airy space, which is likely attributed to the light-blue vinyl trim of the seats. Most of the seat material has been kept in good condition with only few tears and stains to the driver’s seat, which is understandable considering the age of the vehicle. The condition of the door cards is wonderful with no notable wear or damage. All the switchgear and steering wheel are presented in good condition, although show some signs of age.
To summarise, although the interior of this Morris could benefit from a few fixes and light restoration work, one could argue that its patina adds to the charm of the classic car ownership.

It is also MOT and Tax exempt, as well as ULEZ free should you choose to whizz through the busy streets of the capital.
