Introducing this stunning example of a MK1 Ford Escort 4 Door prototype unit, one of six ever produced, this is a truly rare gem. Having dominated in a 16,000-mile-long rally, Ford decided to honour their victory with a special model known as the Mexico. The Mexico formula was very simple, essentially being a RS1600 but without the BDA motor and producing a respectable 86 horsepower from a 1600cc Crossflow powerplant. The engine is connected to a four-speed synchromesh transmission. The current owner has had the vehicle resprayed in its original colour. This Escort has also had a full engine rebuild.
Exterior
This Mexico is presented in show room condition with stunning chrome wheels, it really is a driving time capsule from the 1970s. Current owner has had this vehicle repainted in its original colour ensuring the underbody was protected too. There are no dings or damage to this vehicle, its pristine. The major interest to this car is its body, being one of six Escort Mexico prototype units, it is a true spectacle to behold.

Interior
Turning our attention towards the interior, we can see that old school ford charm in full swing. Gorgeous black vinyl are to be found all round with beautiful wooden trim to accent, wrapped below its lovely black headlining. This escort comes equipped with a beautiful rally styled ford wheel which pays homage to its history. It should be noted that the tachometer can be a little temperamental, a very common occurrence with these Mk1 Escorts but buyer should be aware.
Overall it is a stunning example that would not look out of place in a motor museum.
